- Since we're talking here about memory, I'd like to know whether 8 or 16
- mb is preferable.
-
- I would LIKE to attempt (eventually) scenes about equal to some of the
- scenes in B5. So we are talking a whole bunch of polygons. I do not
- know exactly how LW uses memory. I know that virtual memory on my
- particular system would kill processor availability (A1200 using stock
- IDE port) so I have to have enough REAL memory in my system.
-
- 16 megabytes isn't totally out of my price range, but I already have 8
- megabytes installed. I only have 1 simm slot so it will only go from 8
- to 16 to 32 to 64 and since 32 megabytes is over a grand, that is too
- much for me.
-
- So, is 16 megabytes enough for such complex scenes? If not, would 32 be
- enough for just about ANY situation? Ideally I'd like to have enough
- memory leftover so I could run some stuff concurrently. Since I have
- 'only' an 030/50+FPU, I should expect my renders to often run as long as
- a week to accomplish at their worst, so I would not want the machine to
- be stuck without the memory left for me to run personal programs
- sometimes (although I'm sure the rendering speed would go way low during
- these sessions).
